Just wondering if anyone has used gripe water or mylicon (gas drops) and if it worked for them? Despite the research (which shows they don't work), I have heard from many parents who say they worked, at least some of the time.  What was your experience using these products?

We have tried both.  I am not sure that Mylicon really worked for us, although I know a few moms who swear by it.  The Gripe Water seemed to help him a couple of different times, but it wasn't anything life changing.  I REALLY like the Hyland's homeopathic products - I feel like we have had small successes with their Colic Tablets, Teething Tablets, and Teething Gel.  Cole doesn't have any teeth as of yet, and we are thinking he probably is not teething, but the products have homeopathic (aka tiny) doses of chamomile in them and after about 10 minutes or so he does seem to relax.  Of course it could be a placebo effect taking over...or perhaps he just likes the taste?  Hahaha.

I was too nervous to try the gripe water, although my mother was urging me to do it.  The Mylicon helped some, more so early on when the fussiness clearly seemed to be gas related.  But we eventually gave it up.

Those teething tablets are a life saver.  I was nervous about those, but enough of my friends had tried them that I felt comfortable doing it.  I always feel like I'm giving her candy and starting some terrible habit, though.   Grin

I liked the Hyland's teething tablets too. I'm not sure how much they actually worked, but I felt at least like I was doing *something*. I loved the warning on the bottle: "Warning: May cause your baby to fall asleep suddenly due to the alleviation of teething pain".  If only!!!  Cheesy

Has anyone tried the Hyland's colic tablets?

Mylicon seemed to help a little with DS2 when he had "grunting baby syndrome" and much more gas in the beginning. Nothing helped with DS1 (Gripe water, Mylicon, or Hyland's teething tablets).

I tried Mylicon & Colic Calm Gripe Water.  I don't think they worked ... but it did make me feel like I was trying to do something to help.  I feel soooo helpless when I can't console my little one.

Neither worked for me...had to go through the full colic stage for 4 months!! Was pure torture!
Recently came across this natural colic relief technique, will try with my newborn...but so far so good!

I didn't notice any difference with the Mylicon, though boy did we go thru enough of it those first three months!!! I do like Hyland's teething tablets though. They almost always calm DS down enough to sleep.

My 16 month (still) has reflux but before she got diagnosed, I tried Colic Calm.  I can't really say whether or not it helped.  If it did, it certainly was not immediate.  I never tried Mylicon.  What seemed to help the most was putting her in a warm bath.  She would stop crying for the duration of her time in it but then start back up again when we would get her out.
